Amit Bouri will focus on…
Amit Bouri is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of the GIIN. His work in impact investing began when he was a strategy consultant with the Monitor Institute. At Monitor he was part of the team that produced the Investing for Social & Environmental Impact report, and he left Monitor to co-found the GIIN in 2009.
Amit’s other projects at the Monitor Institute included strategic planning and organizational development work for nonprofit organizations and foundations. Amit previously worked in the private sector as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company. He left Bain to work in global health at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. He also worked in the corporate philanthropy units of Gap Inc. and Johnson & Johnson. Amit holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, an MPA from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Swarthmore College.

Heidi Patel is a Managing Partner at Rethink Impact, based in San Francisco and sitting on the boards of Spring Health, Ketos, Savonix and as a board observer for Angaza, Juntos Global, and Univfy. Previously, she was President of New Island Capital Management, an institutional-scale and 100% mission-focused investment advisor to a single ultra high net worth family. In this capacity, she helped grow and run the firm while also running its early stage investing program. She sat on New Island’s Investment Committee, overseeing 100+ investments, across multiple asset classes, in sustainability, conservation, online marketplaces, education, economic development, sustainable agriculture, and green real estate.
Heidi Patel teaches (and co-created) a course on impact investing at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and she serves on the Investment Committee for the Stanford GSB Student Impact Fund. Heidi is an advisor to Impact America (another women-led impact investing firm) and Better Ventures (a seed-stage impact fund) and an active member of AllRaise, co-leading their Community and Partnerships efforts. Heidi’s work in social enterprise and impact investing has been featured in the Wall St Journal, NPR’s Marketplace, Fox Business News, Forbes.com, Huffington Post, and the Acumen Fund blog. Heidi earned an AB from Princeton University and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Laura LaRosa will moderate a conversation that interweaves Amit Bouri and Heidi Patel’s perspectives, building a framework enabling investors to empower and educate women.
Laura LaRosa is Glenmede’s Executive Director. As an executive member of the Company’s Management Committee, she is responsible for setting the strategy and practices that guide the Company’s business development professionals. Ms. LaRosa and her team spearhead initiatives to broaden relationships with individuals, families, endowments and foundations.
Ms. LaRosa joined Glenmede in 1994 and has over 30 years of experience in fixed income trading, sales and client development, and she is a member of Glenmede’s Investment Policy Committee. Prior to her current role, Ms. LaRosa served as Director of Portfolio Management, overseeing a team of investment professionals responsible for managing $17 billion of assets for clients, and was previously Director of Fixed Income, managing over $7 billion in assets.
A frequent speaker on portfolio management, fixed income, impact and gender-lens investing and investment strategy, Ms. LaRosa was recognized as one of 2017’s 100 Corporate Women Leaders in STEM by STEMconnector.
Active in her community, Ms. LaRosa is a member of the Board of the Committee of Seventy, the Barnes Foundation’s Corporate Leadership Board, Friends of Rittenhouse Square, the Williamson College of the Trades, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children as well as the Friends of the Avenue of the Arts. She is also a member of the Forum of Executive Women.
